Recycled Plastic

Milestones

The following documents below show the thought process, progression, and steps me and my group took to find a solution to the problem of building a mechanism and automating a process which recycles containers effectively and efficiently.
Colleagues Working Together

Milestone 0

In this milestone our group introduced each other, assigned administrative roles, and included a gantt chart which goes over a schedule of what needs to be completed in the given time frame of the project.

Taking Notes

Milestone 1

In this milestone, our group used a how/why ladder and identified important objectives and constraints. We also drafted a refined problem statement.

Artist Sketching

Milestone 2 (TEAM)

In this milestone, the modelling sub-team discussed their concept sketches and used a decision matrix to choose the best design. The computing sub-team discussed their individual research on sensors.

Engineering Plans

Milestone 2 (INDIVIDUAL)

In this milestone I added in pictures of 2 concept sketches. One which was a mechanism design incorporating the linear actuator and the other using the rotary actuator.

Editorial Design

Milestone 3

(TEAM)

In this milestone the modelling sub-team shared their detailed sketches of the chosen design from milestone 2 and began modelling parts of it. The computing sub-team shared their work flow of the program and wrote pseudocode for each function.

Drawing a Straight Line

Milestone 3 (INDIVIDUAL)

In this milestone, I drew a detailed sketch of our chosen design from milestone 2.

Working Together

Milestone 4

In this milestone we wrote down feedback on our model and computer program given during the design review so that we could refine and make final changes to our work.
